Web Resources

  • Resource Development on Request
On request (subject to staff availability), staff members of the GSLI can create customized print or web resources specific to the needs of graduate students in a particular department, program, or discipline. See our contact page to find the staff person relevant to your needs.

  • Academic Integrity
An interactive tutorial that provides information about why academic integrity is important and how not to plagiarize. It has quizzes to test students’ understanding of the rules and an interactive summary-writing exercise. TAs can ask their students to take the tutorial. If you are new to the Canadian academic environment, you are especially encouraged to review the important academic guidelines in this tutorial.

  • RefWorks
A bibliographic management service that will collect, store, and organize citations you've found to journal articles, books, websites, and other sources. It will automatically create correctly formatted manuscripts and bibliographies in the format you specify. RefWorks is available for use by all registered students.

  • ESL Website
This site brings together, in one virtual location, information on writing, speaking, and communication support available through the University of Guelph for students whose first language is not English.

  • A Guide to Time Management
This online workshop is particularly useful for graduate and senior students who experience ongoing challenges with meeting deadlines, and planning and using time effectively. It is also an excellent resource for TAs seeking information for their undergraduate students who are having issues with time management and meeting deadlines.

  • Handouts
These popular handouts provide an overview of key academic skills. View the list of Learning Handouts, which include time management, working in groups, managing nervousness in oral presentations, concept mapping, and concentration, or the Writing Handouts, which include referencing, grammar and style, and writing in the disciplines.

  • Data Resource Centre Materials
To view workshop notes and help guides created for services offered through the DRC, please visit the Help and Learning Resources page and follow one of the three following areas:  Statistical/Numerical Help, Geospatial Help, or Statistical Computing Help.

  • Online Resources for First-Year Undergraduates
TAs may wish to explore the comprehensive range of online resources available for their undergraduates through First.
